has achieved international recognition for her outstanding accomplishments
in the fields of professional image consulting, beauty products
development and beauty and media makeup artistry.
With
extensive experience in the fields of image, beauty and health,
Ms. Layne is dedicated to helping men and women enhance and manage
their total image. Her appreciation, knowledge and understanding
of culturally diverse images is the result of having lived, worked
and traveled in thirty countries on four continents.
As
a freelance commercial, television, print, theatrical, film and
video hair and makeup artist and image consultant, Barbara Layne
has worked with Heather Locklear, Mimi Rogers, Sharon Stone, Roddy
McDowall, Debbie Allen, Sally Kellennan, Jeff Goldblum, Florence
Henderson, Teri Garr, Michele Nichols, Connie Stevens, Ricardo Montalbon,
Maria Conchita Alonso, Ed Begley Jr., Pat Boone, Rob Weller and
Mary Frann, Lee Greenwrood, Phyllis Diller, Ben Vereen, Alan Rachins,
Woody Harrelson, Tim Matheson, Mare Willingham, Dennis Hopper, SoJeil
Moon Fry and many other celebrities.
Barbara
Layne's professional career in image management and makeup training
has included positions with corporate clients including Marinello
Cosmetology Schools, Noeiver Cosmetics, Nabisco, Easter Seals Telethons,
Dole Raisons, Hand Corporation, Summer Salt Records, Models Bootcamp,
Forever Spring Skin Care, Amway, Viviane Woodard Cosmetics, Television
Talk Shows, News Casters, Gourmet Choice Health Foods, European
Health Spas and the Total Fitness Centers.
Barbara
authors the syndicated newspaper column titled "Image Matters,"
and has been quoted in many magazines as an authority in the fields
of beauty and image. She also writes monthly newsletters for various
companies. She is on the Advisory Boards of the National "Esthetique"
Magazine, and Viviane Woodard Cosmetics.
Ms.
Layne's reputation in Hollywood as a Master of international makeup
prompted an invitation from Japan to open a school of makeup and
a chain of glamour photography studios. As a fearless adventurer
she moved to Japan and rode a bicycle for 3 years! After completing
her business challenge she opened the first Academy in prestigious
Brentwood, California.
Barbara
currently is a key makeup advisor for Western Cosmetics and Entity
Cosmetic Laboratory and Manufacturing Plant, and is responsible
for the development of new color lines of cosmetics. To keep her
close professional presence, the Academy of Makeup & Fashion
studio is currently on the manufacturing plant site. This is where
national and international students come to learn about the Beauty
Industry. Ms. Layne instructs private, professional and corporate
classes in image and fashion consulting as well as full courses
of beauty corrective makeup and a thorough beauty media makeup course
for photography, TV, film, video and print, including fantasy and
period makeup.
Ms.
Layne received her Bachelor of Science in Management and her Master
of Arts in Applied Arts from Kensington University. She received
her Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the University of the Americas and diplomas
in image consulting from the Fashion Academy and in film industry
makeup from L.T.U. and private courses with the Hollywood glamour
makeup "great," Webster Phillips.
Ms.
Layne has received many awards including the Distinguished Service
Award presented by the United States Air Force, the Distinguished
Service Award presented by the Consulate General of the Republic
of Honduras, and the Friendship Citizen Award presented by the Governor
of Utsunomiya, Japan.
Barbara
Layne is a Professional status award member of the Association of
Image Consultants International, the National Cosmetology Association,
the American Institute of Management Science, and the Encino Chamber
of Commerce.
